Established in 2004

Sarva Dharma Samvaad is a civil society organization based in Delhi. SDS aims to reduce religious violence, casteism, intolerance, bigotry and the associated emotional harm through creating and providing forums for interfaith dialogue and shared experience. It is initiated by youth for youth to create a new generation of interfaith dialogue practitioners. Sarva Dharm Samvaad opted for three pronged approach to achieve its goals. SDS has divided its process into Research and Networking, programmes and Advocacy and Communication.

Mission

To stimulate exchange of thoughts and opinions to clear misconceptions about religions; promote mutual respect and peaceful co-existence.

Objectives

To provide a common platform for youth, interfaith practitioners and religious leaders to understand each other’s religions and faiths.

To promote culture of respect and empathy among the different religious communities.

To promote multi-religious cooperation and dialogue by celebrating and appreciating differences and commonalties those exist among various religions.

Through its activities, SDS seeks to heal and transform the causes of injustice, disharmony, violence, oppression and degradation of values and environment rooted in ignorance, fear and greed, to co create inclusive and just peace grounded in core values of truth, love, compassion and justice. SDS pivots around the principles of equity, ethics, ecology and humanism in all its activities.

The Team

Manu Singh

Manu Singh is currently the Chairman of Sarva Dharma Samvaad(SDS). In the past He has served as the Vice president and a media secretary of WORLD COUNCIL OF ARYA SAMAJ (SARVDESHIK ARYA PRATINIDHI SABHA- the highest body of the Arya Samaj which is the greatest socio-spiritual movement in India). He was also a convener and a trustee of the renowned organization- Sarva Dharma Sansad or Parliament of Religions.

Along with socio religious platforms he has also served as an honorary consultant of Bandha Mukti Morcha, an internationally acclaimed NGO working against bonded labors in the India, A convener of Anupam Sarva Sewa Samiti which is working in kumaon(uttarakhand) for the upliftment of the hilly people and closely associated with international organizations like KAIICID, Religion for peace, World economic forum and Art of the living.During his career he has directed various campaigns against casteism, communalism, gender equality, child labors, communal harmony, India Pakistan friendship, tribal welfare, oppression and corruption free society and the environment protection. He has also tried to crusade against the present hedonistic model of crass consumerism, crony capitalism and dog eat dog individualism.

Farha Iman

Farha Iman is a General Secretary of Sarva Dharma Samvaad (SDS). Before joining SDS, She worked with National Social Watch (NSW) and Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL) as Advocacy and Communications Officer. She has also worked as a researcher for Arigatou International and UNESCO on a project named, "Best Practices of Interfaith Dialogue by/for youth: Asia and Pacific Region".

She has been associated with several organisations such as Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) and Global Network for Rights and Development-India (GNRD-India). She has presented several academic papers, facilitate trainings and workshops on Globalization, Religious Minorities, Interfaith, Peace and Conflict in Bangladesh, Thailand and Singapore respectively. She has graduated with B.A. in Social Work (2007). She obtained Masters Degree (2009) in Conflict Analysis and Peace Building from the Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Jamia Millia Islamia.

Aprajita Rai

Aprajita Rai is a Programme and Networking Officer of Sarva Dharma Samvaad (SDS). She worked with Bonded Labour Liberation Front (BMM), World Council of Arya Samaj and Dharma Chakra as a Media and Project Co-ordinator respectively. She did her internship with Life Line Care Organisation and Pratham.

She holds the certificate of training on "Social Media and Communications Training for Interreligious Dialogue Practitioners" organized by KAICIID Dialogue Centre (King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue).

She has graduated with Bachelor's in Education from Centre institute of education, Delhi University and Physics (Hons.) from Maitreyi College, Delhi University

Vikrant Singh

Vikrant Singh, the current Advocacy officer of Sarva Dharma Samvaad (SDS) has over 7 years of multifaceted experience of working with different organizations and humanitarian activities.

His remarkable services to Akhil Bhartiya Jan Kalyan Foundation, a Jharkhand based NGO which works for betterment of laborers, got a huge acclaim for righteous implementation of Government projects and coupling it with the necessitous people since its inception. He has dedicated his 3 years journeying Jharkhand and UP for upliftment of the craftsmen and linking them with the mainstream.

Being a graduate from JNU, he is a philanthropist by heart and being a sports person he is highly optimist and walks with a "Never Quit" attitude.

Anshu Chaudhary

Ms. Anshu Chaudhary is a psychologist and academician by profession who has over ten years of experience in teaching and consulting. Currently, she is serving in the capacity of Assistant Professor in Psychology at Indraprastha College for Women, University of Delhi (2010-till date). Previously, she worked as a Consultant with Human Capital Advisory Services of Deloitte, India (2008-2010). Her areas of expertise include soft skill training (communication, leadership and team-building), qualitative research methods, mental health advocacy, organization behavior and social psychology.

Anshu is an avid reader and researcher and her interest areas are self and personality, group behavior, team dynamics, conflict resolution, gender issues and pro-environment behavior. At present, she is pursuing her doctoral studies in Social Psychology from Department of Psychology, University of Delhi.

Vikas

A Doctorate in Education from University of Delhi, Vikas has more than 7 years of experience in school teaching, teacher training, research and administration. Presently, he is pursuing post-doctoral studies from the Indian Council of Philosophical Research (I.C.P.R). Vikas has diverse research interests such as inter-subjectivity, dialogue, otherness, inclusion, peace education, self, identity and spirituality.

Ekta Kandhway

In capacity of an Indian researcher in Latin American studies she is working on developing body of comparative studies in the field of indigenous knowledges and further relating it to environmental issues. Ms. Ekta Kandhway is an M.Phil. research scholar at Centre for European and Latin American Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia Central University. The topic of her M.Phil. Dissertation is “A Comparative Study of Quechua and Santali Worldviews through their Folktales”. She has completed five years integrated MA program in Hispanic philology from School of Language, Literature and Cultural Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. She was awarded NET-JRF fellowship by the University Grants Commission in 2014. Currently, she is also teaching Spanish proficiency course in Delhi College of arts and commerce, University of Delhi.

Through her academic engagements she aims to explore alternative worldviews of indigenous cultures and rationalities from Latin America and India which she believe could play an instrumental role in dealing with present environmental hazards caused by blind material development, a step towards building an eco-sensible future for our world.
